UnExplored Wayanad.

As I have already told, I was blessed to be born in wayanad, I am even luckier to study in a school which took the students for Nature Safari regularly. I have deeply experienced the unseen beauty of wayanad through this.Students from the primary class to secondary class were part of this.

From the primary classes I have been to Muthanga wildlife sanctuary, Soochipara Water Falls, M S Swaminathan Research Foundation,Forts made by Britishers etc.

From the highschool classes I have been to many places, Among these Brahmagiri hills and pakshipathalam  still brings fresh memories to my mind.So I have decided to blog about these today.

Brahmagiri Hill, is a scenic tourist attraction. The top of Brahmagiri Hill is well forested and has a lot of wildlife.Thirunelli temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, lies on the side of Brahmagiri. This temple is known as Dakshina Kasi .According to epics the temple was constructed by Lord Brahma himself.Pakshipathalam is another attraction here. It has a cave that is said to have been used by saints in ancient times.

The journey to pakshipathalam is very adventures and thrilling. One has to be physically fit and should have good stamina. The journey will take whole one day. We will be extremely tired by the end of it.We a group of 15 students along with 2 teachers and a guide started around 6.30 in the morning. We also carried sufficient food and water along with us as we were aware that the journey will be tedious. The climate was excellent on the day.We walked through the mountain paths and through the shore of small rivers. We heard the sounds of animals and the sweet voices of birds from the interior forest. We had a lot of fun here.We had our breakfast from a watch tower which was almost 100 ft high. We could see the whole of the mountain from there.

After resting there for a while we continued our journey, this time we had an aim, to reach a big cave by afternoon. We reached there. The cave was very narrow initially, with lots and lots of rocks, which were slippery in nature. It also had a variety of palnts and small herbs. The guide adviced us to move very carefully.

Once we reached inside the cave we couldn't believe our eyes. The cave was so huge and it was fully covered with bats.It was like watching a 3D movie, small bats were flying just in front of our eyes.It was mostly dark inside the cave. The bottom of the cave was covered with the defecation of the bats. After having a memorable time there we left the place. But still our minds were filled with the "Bat Memories".

On the way back we saw herds of deers and various other animals, we reached near Thirunelli in the late evening. We had a shower from the papanasini river.According to tradition, Vishnu granted the power for the Papanasini river to wash away all sins. After washing away all our sins we went back to our camp in the night.we had heavy dinner from a roadside canteen. All our body and legs were paining due to the trek. But still we went to sleep with the lovely memories of the forest and the fun we had in the journey.

I am very thank full to our teacher Mr.Minuraj for organizing such a beautiful trip which still brings nostalgic memories even after these much years.
